About Tessa
Following on from an Arts Degree (Psychology & Sociology), Tessa’s commitment to social justice and human rights combined with her passion for creating safe, inclusive and sustainable communities led her to complete a Social Work Degree in 2005. Over the next 17 years’, Tessa supported and empowered some of the most vulnerable and marginalised members of society through the delivery of casework, group work, community development and arts projects, advocacy and campaign work, mediation, clinical mental health work, counselling and therapeutic work.
Tessa has extensive training and experience in delivering trauma-informed therapy and has worked with survivors of sexual assault and family violence, the veteran community, refugees and asylum seekers, and people who have experienced significant grief and loss. She has also worked in clinical, forensic and private settings supporting people experiencing a range of emotional distress and mental health diagnoses.
In the past seven years Tessa has transitioned from traditional social work to counselling and therapeutic work by immersing herself in ongoing professional development and working in clinical settings. Tessa is committed to providing effective tailored support and has completed advanced training in EMDR therapy to add to her expanding skill set.
